LOR116 - Jeffrey Larson -414: 4-Track Studies
The fifth release in Linear Obsessional's Cassette Imprint is this scintillating collection of pieces by the Texan musician Jeff Larson. Using his four-track recorder Larson piles up the simple phrases of his guitar into dense enveloping washes of juddering mesmerising sound. The results resemble to an extent the early minimalist experiments of the 1970's minimalists, but with an almost punky DIY texture and urgency. Available as a profesionally duplicated cassette in yellow shell, and full colour inlay card, or as a free/name-your-price download. The fourth release in Linear Obsessional's cassette imprint is this phenomenal collection of compositions by the American composer Ben Glas... "This record is a collection of psychoacoustic and experiential aural pieces composed without a teleological result in mind. ...What I sought to compose was not necessarily limited to a sonic experience; with these works I was seeking to explore expanded forms of hearing, listening and experiencing" -Ben Glas music is an audio hall of mirrors, wherethe phantom melodies are being produced by your own imagination. The resulting Ben Glas (b. 1992) is an interdisciplinary artist and composer based in Portland, OR. LOR113 - Kev Hopper -Corbyn Sceptic Club
We're very proud to present the latest solo album by Kev Hopper (Stump, Ticklish, Prescott) his second for Linear Obsessional Recordings. The mischievously entitled "Corbyn Sceptic Club" is a joyous collection of new tracks, some are abstract and beautiful vignettes- tone colours and splanging electronics and his unique electric bass sound, others use the quirky gurgles and squelches Hopper has rather made his trademark, and some, including the majestic title track, are glorious pop songs complete with heroic twangy guitar and lush vocoder choruses. Limited edition of 100 CDs. Available as a CD (limited to 100 copies) and as a free/pay-what-you-like download.

LOR111 - smallhaus -lutra
Following on from his slow burning self-released cassette "Unweather", "Lutra" is the first CD release by smallhaus (AKA South London based guitarist, electronicist, percussionist David Little). It expands his singular sound environment into a full-screen, full-colour and hugely enjoyable collection. At times this almost feels like a tribute to the classic sounds of 70's ambient - the choral textures, the infinite guitars, the synthesizers, but it's done with a knowing wink and a contemporary layer of grit and dust. But mostly it's an enveloping, immersive wash of precision moulded sound.
Released as a CD in plastic wraparound cover with insert and free/name your price download.

LOR121 - Duncan Chapman -Piddocks
Linear Obsessional is delighted to present this short(ish) single work by the composer Duncan Chapman - as a prelude to a longer, physical work to be released in the future. "Piddocks" is a spare, but engrossing exploration of a fascinating sonic world. "Piddocks" is one of a series of solo works exploring field recordings with generated sounds (mostly using digital sinewave generators) and live electronic processing. Piddocks also includes what could be described as "the sounds of necessary actions". In this case a recording I made of making tea which was part of the preparations for a live performance in Dewsbury Minster.
